The BET Awards nominations were just announced, and leading the pack is none other than rapper Chris Brown with six nods. Lil Wayne followed close behind with five nods, including Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, Best Collaboration, Video of the Year and the Coca-Cola Viewer’s Choice Award. Kanye West, Rihanna and Drake were each nominated four times.
The awards show will take place on June 26th at the Shrine Auditorium and will be hosted by comedian Kevin Hart. Stephen Hill, the president of music programming and specials at BET, explained the choice in hosts: “When we asked folks who should host this year’s BET Awards online, in the streets, among other celebs and throughout social media, one name came back to us loud and clear: Kevin Hart. He is blue flame right now and we are looking forward to working with him on the show.”
Rapper M-Bone, who was recently killed in a drive-by shooting, was nominated with his fellow artists in Cali Swag District for the Best Group award.
The awards show will air live on BET on June 26th at 8:00 p.m. EST. For a full list of nominees, check out the BET Awards website.
