Lil Wayne To Be Featured On MTV’s “Unplugged”

Rap superstar Lil Wayne will become the latest hip hop artist to be featured on MTV’s “Unplugged.” His episode will air Sunday, June 12th at 9 p.m. ET on MTV, MTV2 and MTV.com.

The rapper will be performing acoustic versions from several of his albums. Amy Doyle, the Executive Vice President of Music and Talent at MTV has said, “Lil Wayne is an amazing choice for Unplugged as he is at hip-hop’s forefront – leading a new generation of artists whose appeal spans across music genres and playlists. Lil Wayne’s skills, influence, and catalog are a powerful addition to the legacy of artists who have rocked the Unplugged stage.”

Previous artists who have performed on the show include LL Cool J, Mariah Carey, Jay-Z, Lauryn Hill, Bob Dylan, Korn, Hole and Alicia Keys

Be sure to tune in June 12th top catch the acoustic versions of Lil Wayne’s songs. Currently, the rapper is putting the finishing touches on his next album, “Tha Carter IV,” which is scheduled to be released on Tuesday, June 21st. Just over a month after the special airs, the rapper will also be kicking off the second leg of his “I Am Still Music Tour.” Running from July 13th to September 11th, Lil Wayne will be stopping at 41 U.S. cities.
